North Main Street, Multi-Family Housing
Hartford, Connecticut

This project involved designing seven new two-family homes for the City of Hartford Urban Homesteading Program. The design reflects the architectural character of Hartford’s residential past with large windows, porches, gable roofs, bay windows and detailing.

Located in the heart of Hartford's Asylum Hill neighborhood, this eight unit affordable housing project was designed to respond to the original character, scale and detail of the area's nineteenth century housing. Asylum Hill was developed during the 1840's as one of Hartford's prominent residential districts and today is one of the city's most historic areas.

The two new duplex homes, each containing four units, incorporate brick masonry, double hung windows, ornamentation, porches and pitched roofs to help blend the new construction with the context of the existing neighborhood.
